“When we were ready to send Hailey to kindergarten, we took our time and looked at what each school had to offer. Right from our first visit to St. Louis we felt that this would be a wonderful school to have our children attend, and they did not disappoint. We absolutely love their enthusiasm, and how they create a sense a family within their school. We’ve been especially impressed with all the extra programs they offer with their designation as a Living Arts School. Hailey has participated in gardening, beekeeping, and a number of workshops offered on weekends that parents can participate as well – some of our favourites have been cake decorating and marionette puppet making, they even have a virtual “little friends” workshop for our 2 ½ year old Carter. They offer an exceptional learning environment for the children and we couldn’t be happier with our decision to choose St. Louis Living Arts School for our family.”

“Hi, my name is Chrysti and my three daughters attend St. Louis School. I’m amazed every day at what my girls learn at school. St. Louis has so many exciting programs like the Lego Club, Nature Club and Dog-trick Club and my girls are excited to go to school every morning. The staff are incredible and meet your child where they’re at academically, socially and emotionally. They know each student's name and always have your child’s best interest at heart.”
St. Louis Living Arts School is proud to offer strong programming that supports student success in academics. Our EMPOWER Reading Program helps gives students the tools they need to read. The Empower Reading program was introduced at St. Louis School in the 2017-2018 school year and was expanded due to its success to all elementary schools at Kenora Catholic beginning in the 2018-2019 school year. The program is offered to children in Grades 2-5. Children identified for the program are given extra reading time on a daily basis during regular class. All teachers offering the program are trained by certified instructors in order to ensure children participating in the program are experiencing the same benefits that were observed during research.
As part of a new focus from the Kenora Catholic District School Board we also offer a Math Support teacher to help both students and teachers in the instruction of math. The Math Support teacher works with our Numeracy Facilitator and are trained by renowned math instruction expert Dr. Marian Small. They help teachers in any way they can including intervention methods, finding new math games, diagnostic tools, and math lessons.
Students at St. Louis School are learning about planting, animals, nature, photography, canning, beekeeping, composting and a wide variety of other topics from local community members through the school’s Down to Earth Nature Club. The club started in the spring of 2019, with sixty-two students signing up to be a part of it.
That excitement and enthusiasm for nature continues in the school’s updated outdoor learning space. The design, which was completed in 2018, brings in natural elements that can be used as play structures such as large boulders and wood logs that children love to walk along. The whole idea is to create a natural space where children can use their imagination to play.
St. Louis Living Arts School is a certified EcoSchool and has also been recognized as a Bee City School through Bee City Canada for creating a Pollinator Habitat at the school. In the fall of 2020, a Beekeeping program was introduced.
